The Sick Leave Act 2022 is effective from 1st January 2023 and legislates for a Statutory Sick Pay Scheme for all Employees in Ireland, phased in over a four-year period. Prior to this, Employees had no legal right to be paid while on sick leave from work. From 1st January 2024, paid Statutory Sick Leave increases from 3 days to 5 days.
