New Legislation Update – Employment (Contractual Retirement Ages) Act 2025

The Employment (Contractual Retirement Ages) Act 2025 was signed into law this week by President Catherine Connolly. Once this legislation comes into effect, Organisations seeking to rely on a contractual retirement age which is below the State pension age of 66 will need to comply with a new consent-based framework before confirming any decisions in relation to the Employee concerned. The legislation requires a commencement order before it comes into force.
